ADA Accommodations
ADA Accommodations
Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”), individuals with disabilities (as defined by the ADA) may be entitled to accommodations to participate in Court hearings or other business with the Court. The determination of whether a specific accommodation will be provided generally rests with the judge assigned to your case. The Macomb County Probate Court has enacted a local administrative order (LAO 2012-03J) setting forth the Court's policies and procedures with respect to ADA accommodations.
In order to request an accommodation, please contact the staff of the judge assigned to your case, or contact the Probate Court’s ADA Coordinator at (586) 469-7172. You may also contact the Court’s Judicial Aide Office at (586) 469-5156.
In order to consider your specific request, we ask that you complete a Request for Accommodations Form (SCAO form MC 70). Once completed, please return this form to the Probate Court, attn: ADA Coordinator or to the Judicial Aide Office, located on the Fifth Floor of the Macomb County Circuit Court, 40 N. Main, Mount Clemens, MI 48043.
Interpreter Communication with Retained or Court Appointed Counsel
Court-appointed and retained counsel must keep in contact with the foreign language and/or ASL interpreter, including the agency that has been assigned to the case, for future dates and case status. Their court time must be scheduled accordingly. Interpreters are to be notified as soon as possible of any scheduling or location changes.
